Low Carbon Strategies ™
Since 2011, NovaMark has partnered with Extiel Technologies to bring innovative technology solutions to Turkmenistan. Initially aimed at addressing the challenges of maximizing the value of Turkmenistan’s vast reserves of natural gas, NovaMark has introduced Gas-To-Liquids methods to convert natural gas into high value products such as Methanol, DME, and High-Octane Gasoline. With the adoption of measures to deal with climate change from the emission of greenhouse gasses, the partnership has re-focused its efforts to develop practical solutions to ‘decarbonize”.
In 2024 at the COP28 Summit in Dubai, UAE, the President of Turkmenistan pledged to reduce the emission of methane into the atmosphere. In an effort to support that pledge, NovaMark together with Extiel are bringing new technologies to Turkmenistan to capture and monetize fugitive emissions of methane and other green house gasses.
In April 2013, NovaMark and Exitel brought specialists from SC Turkmengaz to an Exitel demonstration plant constructed in Electrogorsk, Russia. The plant produces 40 liters of gasoline per day from conventional natural gas. The Turkmengaz visitors were delighted with the results.
In 2016, NovaMark was awarded a project by State Concern “Turkmengaz” for the design and construction of a Gas-To-Gasoline (GTG) plant with an annual capacity for 600,000 metric tons that would produce 95 & 98 octane gasoline.
Natural gas is a low energy density hydrocarbon which can easily be converted to gasoline which is a high energy density hydrocarbon using modern methods. While the conversion of natural gas into gasoline is not a new technology itself, the traditional method requires a very large investment in a very large plant in order to achieve operating efficiency using the traditional method. Furthermore, it takes several years to design and construct such plants.
The technology that NovaMark Energy Services brings to SC "Turkmengaz" today is based on slightly different principles than the traditional method. Because the process can be scaled downwards to build smaller plants, we can build a series of smaller plants, or process trains, to achieve the most efficient size for SC "Turkmengaz" and to begin producing the final product in a much shorter timeframe.
NovaMark Energy Services, LLC has been involved in various areas of the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan for over five years. NovaMark's unique strategy of building local partnerships has proven to be a successful and cost effective approach to doing business in Turkmenistan.
Apart from Gas to Gasoline project, NovaMark also provides consulting services, which are not only limited to oil and gas, but spans the full range of business industry of Turkmenistan. Our broad experience in Turkmenistan enables us to act as a company agent/representative "on the ground" in Turkmenistan.
